Since I first picked up the camera... I knew it was for me. Ever since I first started taking photographs, I noticed that the picture never fully satisfied what i saw through the lenses of my own eyes. Then again, even though the images through our eyes and the eye of the camera are quite different, they each have their benefits. The camera captures a moment, freezing it in time. Many people say this, but if you truly take a moment and look at a photograph, imagine what it was like when it was taken. Imagine the photograph as if it is alive once again. Why I love to photograph people is because I believe that the camera captures emotions that may not be visible in the normal speed of everyday life. When you take a photograph, you slow life down, allowing you to observe the raw, vulnerable state of that person. That is what photography is about; taking the subject or surroundings by surprise. Catching your subject off-guard, even for just a split second, long enough to capture a piece of their soul.
